Le ru aux Cailles et
le Ru de l'Isle

This mill was located at the junction of four canals : Cailles canal, Isle canal, Meldançon canal and Planche Clément canal. It is mentioned at the beginning of the 14th century. It was located at the heart of the Slaughter district, also called knacker's yard or mas(sa)crery; it was there that, at the middle of the 15th century, the meat cutters and the butchers worked, throwing their bloody wastes in the water which then ran through the vicinity... The establishment of the slaughter-houses in the Chaillouet area dates only from the middle of the 19th century.
