The Planche Clément canal followed exactly the layout of the current rue de la Planche Clément. It joined the Seine outside of the city walls on the level of Sainte Catherine's Bridge.
Click to enlarge The rue de la Planche Clément was also called Rue des Huches (Bins), from the name of the fish baskets fixed on the houses which bordered the canal. The canal allowed the installation of public baths, close to the rue Neuve des Bains, in the 18th century.
