The bourg Saint Martin was a little city in itself, until it became part of the town of Troyes in the 1860's. Vine growers and gardeners lived in this area and its church was naturally named "Es Vignes", which also enabled it to be differentiated from the abbey Saint Martin Es Aires. The building of the church started in 1591, and mixed both late renaissance and classical styles; its front with columns was created by Maillet, a Canon from the cathedral, in 1681. Apart from a few interesting 16th and 17th century sculptures, Saint Martin shows an interesting collection of stained glass windows from the 17th century. Some of them are attributed if not to the master Linard Gonthier, certainly to his school. On those stained glass windows, pictures of the generous donors are numerous.
